About SalaryTally

SalaryTally answers one question with real data: what do jobs actually pay in the United States? Most salary sites rely on self-reported numbers and fuzzy averages. We publish the official figures — median pay, full percentile ranges, and employment counts for 120 occupations in all 50 states — and then go one step further: we estimate what that salary looks like after taxes.

Where the data comes from

Every wage figure on this site comes from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) survey — May 2025 estimates, released in April 2026. It is the most authoritative public salary dataset in the country, built from employer payroll reports rather than anonymous submissions. We do not adjust, blend, or "model" the wages; we show what BLS publishes.

How take-home estimates work

Net-pay estimates use 2026 federal tax brackets, the standard deduction, FICA (Social Security and Medicare), and each state's verified 2026 income tax rules, computed for a single filer with the engine that powers our sister site, PaycheckTally. Estimates exclude tax credits, itemized deductions, and local city taxes. See the full disclaimer.
